Company overview
A ferrosilicon plant was established in Edfu, Aswan Governorate, to produce ferrosilicon alloys. The plant has a panoramic view of the great Nile River, on one side and, on the other side, the Temple of Edfu, with its great pharaonic monuments. Thus, the plant represents the greatness of the past with the technology of the present.
The plant (EFACO) is the largest integrated manufacturing hub for the production of ferrosilicon alloys in the Middle East. Its production is used in the iron and steel industry. Edfu was selected as a location for the plant because of its proximity to power sources, and to supply pure quartz ore Um Heglig, which is one hundred and ten kilometers from Edfu. The plant was built on an area of about fifty acres. The production depends on the availability of raw materials required for this industry locally.
- The first and second kilns were powered by the first half of 1987.
- The third and fourth kilns were commissioned in the second half of 1988.
